Best For

These Bose QuietComfort 45 headphones are great for all around use and I bring mine everywhere when traveling. Music sounds amazing, yet these are still good for calls, can function as wireless or wired headphones, great at noise-cancelling or passing through ambient noise. The only thing these would be awkward for is running and working out.

The design for these is largely unchanged over previous models as far as appearance goes. But why change a good thing. These are great for all-day comfort. I’ve worn mine flying 8 hours to London from Chicago with no issues whatsoever. They look sleek and the buttons are intuitively right where you’d look for them.

Great looking headphones, fold up nicely, good padding, and nice carrying case. Now offered in 2 colors, white or black. The white are called “white smoke” and is a more modern take on white than just stark white. They look sharp, though I still prefer mine in black.

Bose headphones sound great. There are some audiophiles that may not like the sound of Bose because it’s not completely flat, but I really enjoy listening to my music on Bose headphones. High frequencies are clear and separated, and the bass is low and powerful without getting muddy.

Great over ear headphones with superior noise-cancelling technology. Though pricey for daily use, these are essential for travelers and for all around usage, including tuning out noise while working from home. The successor to the QC 35 II, these 45’s were released in late 2021 with the high quality we’ve come to expect from Bose, plus additional features.

New features in these QC 45’s include improved noise-cancelling performance, using microphones inside and outside the earcups. They also contain a new proprietary processor that, according to Bose, can “sense, measure, and respond to more unwanted sounds in mid-range frequencies, like commuter trains, busy office spaces, and cafes.”

Previous generations of Bose QC headphones weren’t that great for phone calls in noisy places, but Bose says the QC45 will be able to reject noises like coffee grinders or barking dogs from transferring through to the person you’re calling.

Like previous generations, these headphones include a cable you can use to use these as wired headphones when needed. I use the cable to plug into my VR headset to really improve the VR experience. I also use it for plugging into my Roku remote when I want to watch loud movies without disturbing others in the house.

Another feature added to the QC45 is an “Aware Mode” where the microphones help pass through environmental sounds and speech to the wearer. This helps when you want to be more aware of your surroundings and not so cutoff from the outside world.

The QC45’s new “Quiet” and “Aware” modes simply turn on noise cancelling or activate a transparent mode that lets you hear ambient sounds. The new modes allow users to adjust the level of noise cancellation.
